Electric RC Cars

Electric rc cars run on rechargeable batteries (NiCD, NiMH, or LiPo).  These are usually the best type of car to start with if you are new to the hobby.  Brushless electric cars with LiPo batteries can be quite fast, so many expert hobbyists also enjoy electric rc cars and appreciate that they don't require much maintenance.
