The Megatech Avion Biplane FAF3000MP is without a doubt the best living room flyer on the market! It is a fun, ready-to-fly indoor plane that weighs just 8.4 grams and comes with fully proportional rudder and throttle controls! A tight, 3 foot turning radius makes this toy plane a special treat. The biplane is guided by a Spectrum Link Optical Control system (2 channel) that can also be used outdoors, although not in direct sunlight. The transmitter doubles as the charger for the Lipo battery (included with package). An LED indicator indicates charge status. The typical flight duration is 10 minutes and the charge time is approximately 20 minutes. The wingspan is 7.5 inches and its length measures 8.75 inches.

The Megatech Avion Biplane is sold ready-to-fly, apart from 4 size AA batteries that the transmitter needs. Megatech recommends this plane for ages 12 and over. The plane will take some knocks, but can be damaged. Scotch tape (yes, tape) is commonly used to repair this model. Megatech also offers repair glue.

RCTO Tips for the Avion:

1) The plane doesn't have landing gear; it is hand-launched.

2) The optical link control mechanism means that the transmitter must be aimed at the plane at all times to maintain control over it. Direct sunlight should be avoided.

3) Trim adjustments may be required to make the plane fly straight and level, as with any rc plane. The Megatech instruction manual provides directions for how to do this.

4) The Megatech Avion IO Biplane is the indoor/outdoor version of the Avion. It has landing gear, radio (not optical) control, and frequency selection that make it more suitable to use outdoors and with other rc planes. The IO version is a little more expensive, but if you want better outdoor flying capability it is the preferable option of the two. The Megatech Interceptor Aerobatic Jet is another good option for an inexpensive beginner plane to fly outdoors.
