Don't stay inside all day - enjoy the sunshine with a big outdoor rc helicopter! Outdoor helis are larger than indoor models to help them cope with wind and come with an FM or 2.4GHz radio transmitter rather than an infrared controller that is commonly found on small indoor helicopters. We have both coaxial and single rotor outdoor helis to choose from. In general coaxial helicopters are easier to control, but single rotor models offer faster forward flight.
Which model should you choose? Beginners looking at coaxial outdoor helicopters often like the Volitation helicopters, both the Double Horse 9053 and the Team RC Volitation, as well as the Syma S033G. The Double Horse 9104 is a similar three channel model with a single rotor that intermediate level pilots may prefer. If what you really want is an inexpensive dual use indoor/outdoor helicopter, the tandem Syma S022 is very much worth a look. If you prefer a four channel model, then the Esky Big Lama may be ideal for you instead.
More and more pilots these days are having a blast taking aerial video while they fly. If you're a shutterbug, be sure to check out the Thunderbird 68700!
Browse our selections below to find the right outdoor rc helicopter for you and start flying! To maximize the fun and minimize the downtime, we suggest getting your kicks in very light winds only - no more than 3 mph - until you are an experienced rc pilot with a good feel for how your bird will handle stronger shifts in winds.
