The Redcat Racing Sumo RC Truggy is one among a set of fun 1/24 scale truck, truggy, and crawler electric 4WD vehicles from Redcat Racing. The truggies are made of tough, yet lightweight, plastic and are ready-to-run once you add AA batteries to power the transmitter and motor. Changing the batteries is a snap, which helps make the truggies easy for children to handle. The Sumo RC vehicles also feature proportional speed control, while most toy type rc cars have only an on/off switch for throttle control. With proportional speed control, the truggy will move faster the farther you squeeze the trigger on the pistol grip transmitter. The truggies can also be driven in reverse, to back out of a corner for instance.
Each Sumo RC Truggy measures 167 mm long, which is approximately 6.3 inches.
An RC131 motor, spring coil shocks, and 2 channel AM radio are all standard. Replacement parts and some upgrades are available, including a different motor and ball bearings to replace the bushings (see accessories)!
The Sumo RC engine is powered by AA size batteries, so be sure to use rechargeable ones or you will be buying lots of batteries! We suggest rechargeable AA batteries from Tenergy (Tenergy 10308) and a Tenergy Smart Charger for AA batteries (Tenergy 01108) for nonstop fun with the Sumo truggy. Note that rechargeable AA batteries can be purchased with different mAh ratings and the batteries suggested for best performance with the Sumo RC trucks are 2600mAh. The trucks also run well with 2100-2300mAh batteries instead. We suggest not using batteries with smaller mAh ratings than this due to short run times. Alkaline AA batteries are fine to use with the radio transmitter and eight are needed.
The Redcat Racing Sumo RC Truggy comes in two color patterns, blue black and orange black that are made in multiple radio frequencies. If you would like two truggies that you and your kid(s) can play with together, that's easy! If you order multiple truggies, we'll send ones that run on distinct frequencies to avoid signal conflicts. There are plenty of frequencies available to also run the Sumo yellow and blue flame color trucks, so you can also choose a truck as a second or third vehicle instead if you prefer.
**If you already have a Sumo truck or truggy and want another one, please tell us in the comments section for your order what frequency you already have so we can send one that won't conflict with it.** We'll need to know the frequency number that is printed on the transmitter crystal. This crystal is marked "XTAL" on the left side of the pistol grip radio. Gently pull it out, check the frequency, then reinstall it.
