The Redcat Racing Sumo RC series is a set of cool 1/24 scale truck, truggy, and crawler electric 4WD models. The Redcat Racing Sumo RC Truck comes with a low entry level price, but has replacement parts and some upgrades available, too (see accessories)! They are small enough to be used indoors, but can be run outdoors as well. Changing the batteries is a snap, which helps make these trucks a blast for kids to handle. The Sumos also feature proportional speed control, while many toy type rc cars have only an on/off throttle switch. The reverse gear is handy, too, so you can simply back away from an obstacle like someone's foot.
The Sumo RC truck comes with an RC131 motor, spring coil shocks, and 2 channel AM radio. The chassis is made of tough plastic with bumpers front and rear. Model lengths are 167 mm (6.3 inches) for the buggy and truggy designs and 160 mm for the truck. The wheelbase measures 102 mm (4 inches). These cool cats are sold ready-to-run, apart from the 4 AA-size batteries that are required plus eight AA transmitter batteries.
The Sumo RC motor is powered by AA size batteries, so be sure to use rechargeable ones! We suggest rechargeable AA batteries from Tenergy (Tenergy 10308) and a Tenergy Smart Charger for AA batteries (Tenergy 01108) for nonstop fun with the Sumo RC. Click the accessories tab above to add these to your order. Note that rechargeable AA batteries can be purchased with different mAh ratings and the batteries suggested for best performance with the Sumo RC trucks are 2600mAh. The trucks also run well with 2100-2300mAh batteries. We recommend not to operate the trucks with batteries that have lower mAh ratings to avoid short run times.
The Redcat Sumo trucks are made in two colors, yellow flame and blue flame. Pick your favorite when you place your order! The yellow and blue color trucks are each available in multiple radio frequencies. If you want two trucks that you, er, your kids rather, can play with together, no problem! If you order multiple trucks we'll assume you want separate frequency bands when we fill your order. There are enough different frequency bands available that you can also get a Sumo truggy as a second or third (or fourth...) vehicle if you like.
**If you already have a Sumo truck or truggy and want another one, please tell us in the comments section for your order what frequency you already have so we can send one that won't conflict with it.** We'll need to know the frequency number that is printed on the transmitter crystal. This crystal is marked "XTAL" on the left side of the pistol grip radio. Gently pull it out, check the frequency, then reinstall it.
