Either the Multiplex Easy Star or the Redcat Cessna 182 four channel plane can also be a great present for a beginning pilot in the $150-$200 range. The Elapor foam Multiplex uses is a favorite among hobbyists for its durability and repairability, which helps make the Easy Star a great choice for novice pilots. This is also a great plane for aerial photography. The Cessna 182 features brushless electronics and a nice, scale look. These are both four channel models that add aileron control on top of controls for the throttle, rudder, and elevator.
The Redcat Racing F/A-18C, the Multiplex Funjet, and other EDF models are all fine planes for pilots with some experience on propeller trainers who are now looking at fast rc jets for sale. The Kyosho micro size planes are a fun for folks who want a smaller plane to fly in big backyard spaces or at a local park or soccer field. The TW-748 Corsair is a popular version of the famous WWII warbird. It offers nice speed and aerobatic performance in an RTF package for under $100. The TW-748 can be a fun choice for an intermediate pilot who'd like to try out a warbird without spending too much.
